TRIOSPHERE The Heart Of The Matter
HotMore than four years have passed since Norwegian power metal outfit Triosphere released their previous album ‘The Road Less Travelled’. Since then Ørjan Aare Jørgensen has left the band and Kenneth Tårneby has joined the band as their new drummer. Now the wait is finally over as their third studio album entitled ‘The Heart Of The Matter’ is ready to be released. It sounds unmistakable Triosphere just like you would expect, but still some things sounds slightly different. The song material is probably a bit more melodic, catchy and more varied than on their previous albums. Another thing is that Ida has added more variation to her vocals. In contrast to the powerful and aggressive side of her vocal range that we are used to hear, she also shows a more laid back side this time that gives the album a more melodic, catchy and radio friendly touch. The charismatic aggressive guitar riffs and blistering, but yet melodic guitar leads are still dominating the Triosphere sound together with a massive wall of bass and drums and some atmospheric keyboards added. It’s still power metal for sure but with clear hints of both progressive metal and melodic hard rock added and it has turned out to work really well. The production duties has been handled by Jens Bogren this time and he has given the album a very suitable and great sound. ‘The Heart Of The Matter’ consist of twelve songs of very solid quality and in total it’s probably their finest work to date. I’m left with the feeling that this is the album that will take Triosphere’s career a big step forward commercially as well.
