HELL Curse And Chapter
Hot
‘Human Remains’, the previous album from British band Hell, hit me like lightning from a clear sky and it proved to be one of the best heavy metal albums released in 2011. Therefore my expectations to this much anticipated successor were extremely high and rightfully so. ‘Curse And Chapter’ continues where ‘Human remains’ left off and it meets all my expectations. When I first heard the opening track I thought it was a cover version of The Fith Dimension’s ‘Aquarius’. Well it’s not, but they sure as hell have stolen a couple of ideas from that song. Apart from that it’s a great song, just like the rest of the material on the album. The same theatrical expression that characterized the previous album is still there alongside the powerful heavy metal/power metal riffs. In my review of ‘Human Remains’ I described Hell as some kind of mixture between King Diamond and older Savatage, add a bit of older Annihilator to that and you know what Hell is about. The song material is once again very strong and extremely consistent and it’s all packed into a typical and excellent Andy Sneap production. Hell is definitely one of the most exciting heavy metal bands in today’s scene and once again they have released an album that will join the battle for the ‘Album of the year’ title.
