PROFANITY Fragments Of Solace

German tech‑death veterans Profanity return on December 4th with their fourth full‑length studio album, Fragments of Solace. The record was tracked during the first half of 2020 across several studio locations before being mixed and mastered by Lukas Haidinger at Deep Deep Pressure Studios. Active since 1993, the band set out to blend the spirit of the most influential death metal releases from the early ’90s onward with their own vision of extreme music, and that intent is clearly reflected in the final product.

The album features seven tracks of varying lengths, ranging from a concise two‑minute burst to a sprawling nine‑minute composition. I was impressed by their 2017 release The Art of Sickness, and Fragments of Solace continues along the same path with confidence. Each track delivers high‑caliber technical death metal, but the band also incorporates elements of classic ’90s brutality and strong melodic undercurrents, making the material accessible to more than just tech‑death purists.

Adding to the album’s appeal are guest appearances from notable figures in the genre, including Terrance Hobbs (Suffocation) and Matt Sotelo (Decrepit Birth). While Profanity isn’t reinventing the wheel here, they’re certainly keeping it spinning at full speed.

If you’re in search of fresh, high‑quality death metal, Fragments of Solace is absolutely worth your attention.
